Who is Krištof

In October 2022, Krištof Strnad became the choirmaster of the Viva Brežice Mixed Choir together with Simona Rožman Strnad. He is a student at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, majoring in Composition and Music Theory, where he composes in the class of the renowned composer prof. Jani Golob.

He is currently a member of the Choir of the Slovenian Philharmonic and The Mixed Choir Viva Brežice. His past accolades include performing in the Chamber Choirs of the Academy of Music University of Ljubljana and the Conservatory for Music and Ballet.

His first choral compositions were premiered with the Mixed Choir Viva Brežice and were later on performed by other choirs. In May 2021, his composition ’’Na nebu zvezde sevajo’’ won the Prleška suite competition, and in the same year, he co-created the unique project Outside the Frame, where his composition ’’Vesna; goddess of spring for a mixed choir, instrumentalists and folk dance’’ depicted the rite of worship of the Old Slavic goddess. Both of the aforementioned compositions were awarded as novelties at the 2022 Naša pesem (Our Song) competition. His instrumental composition ’’Lux et Tenebrae’’ was performed in Ljubljana, Zagreb and Budapest as part of a project of the Academy of Music. In the summer of 2022, the composition ’’Modro’’ written and performed for the project Barve Lare Willewaldt (Colours of Lara Willewaldt), together with the composition Genesis for the Youth Music project, which was also recorded for Radio Slovenia, and published by the Society of Slovene Composers.

In his writing, Krištof does not limit himself to genres and styles; therefore, we may recognize elements of both tonal and contemporary music within his classical compositions.
