Concert Let me embrace you

Published in News

For over 25 years Viva has been successfully co-creating content in the Posavje Region’s cultural area and we have achieved visible results in many competitions at home (in the last Cantonigros 2016 competition in Vic, Catalonia, Spain). This year we have once again prepared a solemn annual thematicall concert for our loyal domestic audience, who has been supporting us on our singing path for so many years.

This time we wanted to pay tribute the European Year of Cultural Heritage, so on October 6th presented a fascinating story in the Knights Hall of the Posavje Museum Brežice, called Let me embrace you - it's actually a verse from one of the selected folk songs, which were the common thread of this year's concert. The evening was celebrating a rich tradition of Slovenian folk music, which has a special place in many hearts. Using an innovative combination of simple traditional folk songs and contemporary interpretation, we tried to immerse our audience into a musical show, taking place in an idyllic rural environment of Slovenian history. Completely full Knight’s Hall has witnessed the presentation of Slovenian heritage, awakening memories of national cultural roots, supported by a love story that went on in front of the audience.

The concert featured two novelties. The first one, Igraj kolo na dva desetina, was composed by the young and already in Slovenian choral sphere already well-established composer Tina Bec, with whom Viva always gladly rejoins. The second one is an adaptation of Prekmurje region folk song Zrejlo je zito, composed by our choir member, the young musician and a freshman at The Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Kristof Strnad.

In the stage performance Maruša Ferenčak in Krištof Strnad took the leading roles of the young couple. The story was supported by Kaja Rožman in Veronica Strnad with violin inserts and dance choreography.
Ana Spiler, the president of Choir Viva, expressed grattitude to all of the visitors and sponsors for following and supporting Viva’s activities in her closing speech.

Everything Flows - Viva's 25 years

Published in News

In Mixed Choir Viva, we pay great attention to the implementation of new compositions and arrangements from renowned Slovene composers. The symphony of Everything Flows, which we performed at our 25th anniversary on Sunday, September 17 2017, in the Knight’s Hall of the Posavje Museum Brežice, was created in cooperation with four renowned composers. Damijan Močnik, Andrej Makor, Tine Bec in Matjaž Predanič have written choral instrumental work for Viva in which their four compositions are interweaved. The author's compositions are based on literary texts by Slovenian poets (Kovič, Novy, Kuntner and Strniša), the theme is related to the choir’s moto Vivat, crescat, floreat - Let it live, frow and blossom!
